Capstone Timeline
Project proposal: Due June 15, 2015 Late Summer
To work on a capstone, you must create a project proposal, which must be approved by Dr. Jeff Parker. Full information about the capstone proposal process is available through my.extension.harvard.edu.
Dr. Parker runs proposal workshops regularly, typically toward the end of each month. These are available in person and online. To get notification of upcoming workshops, join the proposal mailing list.
Summer
It is expected that you will work on your capstone project over the summer. You will develop a timeline for your own particular project, setting your own milestones and due dates along the way. You will make a blog entry of each week's work. (Even if you're on vacation that week, enter it in your blog! It will help you track where all the time went.)
Class starts early September
Once class starts, you will kick your work into high gear. Get feedback from your fellow students, guest lecturers, and the instructor. Stay focused on completing the project.
Final Class Weekend
On the weekend of December 12-13 (approved as of May 26), all students*** will be required to attend class in person at Harvard. You will present your capstone to the class at that time. For planning purposes, I recommend you have your capstone completion date set internally to December 1. Then you have time to recover if your schedule slips... and time to enjoy the holiday season if you're on track!
***There are exceptions to the in-class requirement. If you are not in North America, you may be able to participate remotely. If you have questions, please contact Jen (jen@jenkramer.org) about your specific situation.
