AFVS 196R: Directed Research: Studio Course

Directed Research

Rindon Johnson

Wednesdays 6:00pm-9:00pm

The goal of this course is to help each student work through a project they have begun or would like to pursue. Most of our time will be spent critiquing and workshopping ideas together. In our first meeting we will get to know one another, and learn about each of your projects. By the end of our first meeting we will establish the rules of our shared space and our critique structure. There will not be a syllabus as such: after each meeting we will discuss what the next should include, who should be critiqued and for how long. On our first meeting students should come prepared with a clear statement describing themselves, their backgrounds, their goals and their project. Students should bring hard copies of their statements printed to class. These statements should be 2,000 words, their format is up to each student. Statements must be somehow read aloud to the class.
