Sample student feedback from the Spring 2020 version of this class: "The class struck the perfect balance between workload and content without ever feeling like a chore. As someone who learns best via video, I really appreciated the wealth of online content as an alternative to readings. I was really impressed (as someone who strongly considered doing a PhD in statistics) by the way you explained the technical aspects of the course. But the discussion component is where the course really thrived, in no small part due to the exceptional teaching team. I’ve seen so many (mostly CS/physics) professors really struggle on the one or two days in the semester they decide to discuss the human side of simulation, algorithms, or whatever topic they teach. Not in your class. Every lecture was so thoughtfully curated to the point that I wasn’t even bothered by the three hour runtime. It’s clear that an immense amount of work went into this class and the only thing you have to work on is how to scale it so that as many people as possible can take it."
"When I decided on Harvard I knew that I’d learn the same science everywhere. But it’s classes like yours that make Harvard special and fun. Thank you so much for an amazing semester."
